The Australian Society of Gynaecologic Oncologists (ASGO) was established in 1986. The Society was incorporated in 2013 and obtained recognition as a Health Promotion Charity by the Australian Charity and Not-for-Profit Commission (ACNC) in 2014. 

Members of ASGO must be a registered specialist in gynaecologic oncology within Australia or New Zealand and hold a Certificate of Gynaecological Oncology; or a Diploma of Gynaecologic Oncology conferred by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists. There are over 50 members from Australia and New Zealand.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SOCIETY

  1. To promote and improve standards of care and outcomes for patients with gynaecologic cancer.

  2. To promote postgraduate, undergraduate and community education in the area of gynaecologic oncology, including but not limited to continuing education for members of the Association.

  3. To promote and encourage research into gynaecologic oncology.

  4. Advise and assist in the training and teaching of gynaecologic oncologists and other health professionals both nationally in Australian and New Zealand and internationally where appropriate.

  5. Encourage high principles of practice, professional integrity and ethical behaviour in relation to gynaecologic oncology practice.

  6. Undertake other such activity as would support the achievement of the stated charitable objectives, including but not limited to advocacy and representation on local, national and international organisations involved in health care (particularly in the area of gynaecologic oncology).

  7. Monitor and take action on any issues which affect the Association or its members ability to meet their responsibilities to patients and the community
